Internet Gateway Basics
How long does it take to approve a transaction?
Transactions are approved or declined immediately at the time of sale. A response containing an Innovative Gateway transaction ID number is provided for reference.
When will I receive the money?
Funds are deposited into the bank account which you chose when you applied for a merchant account. It takes 2-3 business days after the (daily) batch is closed to receive a batch deposit. (NOTE: Business days are Monday through Friday.)
Should I use a terminal/card swipe?
If you have a storefront, it may be more appropriate for you to use a card-swipe, or terminal equipment, to process your transactions. To find out more, call 800-397-0707.
Do I need a manual imprinter for card receipts?
A manual credit card imprinter and credit card sales drafts should be used for face-to-face transactions. This will prove that the credit card was present at the time of the transaction, and protect you in the event of a chargeback.
Will I be able to accept American Express and Discover cards on my web-site?
If you have a merchant account number for Amex and Discover, you will be able to process these types of transactions on our system. You can call your bankcard processor (Innovative Merchant Solutions, at 800-397-0707) to verify if you have a Amex or Discover merchant account number.
Will I be able to accept checks on my web-site?
Innovative Gateway does not have the ability to process checks on the internet at this time.
If I enter my cycle-billing after the cut-off for today, when will it run those bills?
Cycle-billing transactions for today are processed when settlement occurs for the day. If that time is past, it will run those transactions the following day. This will not affect the date scheduled for the next bill in the cycle. You can review all of your cycle bills by using the Merchant Portal.
Technical Issues
What if my computer goes down? Or I lose my internet connection?
You may call the voice-authorization center to obtain approval for your transaction. Visa/MasterCard 800-228-1122 American Express 800-528-2121 Discover 800-347-1111. Write down the voice authorization code. Once you have an internet connection again, use the Merchant Portal. Select Transactions, then Run a Manual Transaction. Make sure you select “Voice Auth” as the charge type.
Do I need to build my own shopping cart?
You can easily integrate with a cart provided by one of our industry-leading partners. Use any of our integrated shopping carts?, and you can be up and running in no time.
Can I get technical help setting up my connection?
The downloadable developer manual provides all the necessary information to set up a connection to the gateway. If you need further assistance, contact Support at 877-484-8444. We can provide developer assistance at $100/hr, with a 1 hour minimum.

How do I know transactions are secure?
Innovative Gateway uses the highest security standards available to the credit card processing industry, including 128-bit SSL protection, Card Security Codes (CSC), and Address Verification Service (AVS). (NOTE: You can check the lower right-hand status area of your browser – if you see a gold lock, you are on a secure page.)
Can I process transactions on my laptop while traveling?
Yes. You may use your laptop while travelling as long as you have an internet connection available.
